The heat, dust and relentless racing of the Dakar Rally gives Castrol EDGE one of its toughest tests and it’s one we’ve passed at every time of asking. The Castrol EDGE backed Volkswagen Motorsport team has achieved an incredible hat trick of outright diesel wins for the race Touareg 2 in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Volkswagen remains the only manufacturer to win the endurance classic with diesel power, and amazingly the team has had no technically-related retirements in four years. The Castrol EDGE lubricated 2.5-litre engine in all four Race Touaregs completed the 9,600km with complete reliability.

Castrol EDGE technologists work closely with Volkswagen Motorsport and together we’ve developed the specially formulated version of the high performance oil used in the Dakar winning Race Touareg.

There are over 13 litres of Castrol products in each Volkswagen Race Touareg 3; including six litres of Castrol EDGE engine oil and five litres of Castrol SAF-XJ gearbox oil.
